S/Y Houira II is a Class ‘A’ Design with substantially upgraded specification founded on Jeanneau’s design Sun Odyssey 45.2 Class A “Open Sea deep keel 2m”.

She is designed for long distance ocean cruising, during which the wind may exceed 8 on the Beaufort scale and the waves may exceed a 4m significant height and to be self-sufficient for such trips. However, Houria II has been upgraded with every conceivable extra and sensible modification to her standing and working rigging to facilitate improved performance, safely, ease of handling and comfort for long distance cruising, and is fully equipped with an extensive inventory.

Whilst her performance capabilities are based on Jeanneau’s Classic Performance Long Mast of 17.5m, they have been greatly enhanced for long distance cruising by modifications to the tensioning of the mast with the addition of a separate \'Luff Mast\' which introduces aerodynamics to the Main Sail increasing its performance similar to the aerofoil on an aircraft wing, which ensures aerodynamics of the main sail regardless of the boom\'s angle or the degree to which the Main Sail is furled.

The facilities provided include an Ice Maker, a Double Sink, Full Gas Cooker, and Microwave Oven, a Fridge and Deep Freeze, Bar, wall lockers and saloon comfortable seating with a collapsible dining table, which may be lowered to provide an occasional double berth. Within the saloon is the Navigation Table with Raymarine Chart and Radar screens and depth finder, together with VHF, all relayed for remote control at the helm. The vessel is fully air-conditioned and heated with 17,500 Btu compressor servicing the Master Cabin and saloon, with an additional 8,500 Btu compressor servicing the stern double cabins all serviced by a 7.5 KVA whisper quiet generator.
