Rhodes Reliant - Price just reduced
Moonglow was built by Cheoy Lee Shipyards in 1965. Her early years were spent in fresh water in the Great Lakes. Throughout her life she has been well maintained and continually upgraded. In 1987 the interior was redone, as well as a new teak deck by Palmer Johnson. She has been owned by her present owner since 1997. In 1999 he embarked on a total reconstruction, update and rehab. Almost 95% of the work was done at a well-known Chicago yacht yard to the highest standards of yacht construction. As of 2005 the only thing that remained of the original vessel was the hull and the spars which have been completely redone, the hull with Awlgrip bottom barrier coated, top new Awlgrip and nonskid decks. The mast was totally stripped and finished with 12 coats of Captains varnish along with new standing rigging in 2012. The interior was removed and refinished and reinstalled to preserve the original Rhodes design. All systems including engine and all appurtenances were replaced. All plumbing, electrical equipment, electronics, sails, generator, pumps, hoses, all battery systems, ground tackle and controls, interior glass work, through hulls, grounding, ice box, insulation and refrigeration, heating and air conditioning and reverse cycle heat pump were replaced. MOONGLOW has a traditional Herreshoff interior with extensive mahogany and teak joiner work with white bulkheads and a teak and holly sole. Note the layout drawing differs slightly from the actual boat in that the forward toilet has been removed only the sink remains. With this exception the owner has tried to keep the restoration as close to the original design as possible. There is ample natural light and ventilation with two large deck hatches, two companionways and 5 dorades. As you descend the beautiful curved stairs of the companionway you enter the main salon. Starting forward is the Forward Cabin featuring a 6’6” V berth with filler cushion. Outboard to port and starboard there is abundant storage on shelving running the full length of the berth. There is additional storage under the berths and several drawers. To starboard there is a full length hanging locker and to port is the sink basin with storage under. The forward opening hatch and opening port in the lavatory provide good ventilation in the forward cabin. Next is the Main Salon with U shaped dinette to port. The dinette can be converted to a double and has bin type storage under. Additional storage is outboard behind seat backs. Opposite to starboard is the galley with 4 burner Tasco cook top and oven fueled by CNG with shut offs at unit and tank. The Adler Barbour refrigeration is 12V . Abundant storage in several drawers and lockers provide space for lots of provisions. The very large single sink makes for quick work of meal time clean up. Just aft of the dinette is the enclosed head and shower with separate access from the main salon and private access from the master stateroom. There are two large storage lockers outboard and storage under the sink. Furthest aft is the private Master Stateroom featuring a private companionway and two large quarter berths, one starboard and one port, with shelves that extend the full length of each berth. Forward of the starboard berth is a large hanging locker. Between the two berths under the companionway opening is the navigation station and electric panel. The drop down panel provides easy access to a well-organized wiring harness. All navigation equipment is convenient to the owner’s cabin on offshore passages.
