Lord Nelson Offshore Cutter - Comfortable & Able

PRELIMINARY LISTING-MORE PHOTOS & SPECIFICATIONS & EQUIPMENT LIST COMING-CHECK BACK REGULARLY

We really like these small sea kindly ships, with their old-world charm. There\'s something romantic about that.  The sailing vessels of today just don\'t sort of have glow. Most modern mass produced boats of today look like look a bare white wall with not much on it. Looking at this Lord Nelson fills up that space with a sort of ambience of the voyaging yachts of yesteryears.

There is just something truly wonderful and right about classic blue water sailing vessel with a high saucy bow, a true cutter rig and a rounded rear end. Call us romantic, but there must be a reason that vessels like this stir the heart and demand love and adoration. The Lord Nelson 41 is one such vessel.

The Lord Nelson is well recognized for her classic lines, robust build, and sea keeping qualities in the company of Hans Christian, Tayana, and Tashiba-Baba. This sailing design was inspired by the lines of an ocean going tug with a high bow and trim stern. They were designed and built to be sea kindly and capable of handling anything the ocean might dish out. The Lord Nelson 41 has a displacement weight of 30,000 lbs (empty). The molded lead ballast is encapsulated within the full keel. The deck stepped mast is supported by a solid rosewood compression post. The bow sprit is a good five feet long providing increased sail area and a tight sheeting angle for the headsail. Even with her generous weight and comfort, she’ll give lighter boats a good run. One owner said their Lord Nelson regularly humiliates larger and supposedly faster boats especially if the seas kick up. I believe it.

No matter that weather, you will always feel safe and secure on this boat. The cockpit is deep and safe. The high bulwark is welcome in a seaway and the wide decks are easy to move about on made ultimately secure by extra high and extremely overbuild stanchions that are attached on the inside of the bulwark’s vertical surface. The high double life lines make her feel like the ship she is.

We are pleased to offer this beautiful, well equipped and properly cared for 1987 Lord Nelson 41 named Lady Nelson. Lady Nelson was custom built for Loren and Lani Hart, owners of Lord Nelson Ltd, the firm which built them.  She is one of the two Lord Nelson 41 yachts, 51 in all built, that is rigged with a taller rig offering a sail plan which provides more power for very effective sailing.  Her tall aspect ratio rig and well designed hull with lovely brightwork contribute to her esthetic beauty.  A true bluewater yacht, the Lord Nelson 41 with it\'s canoe stern, long full keel, attached barn door rudder, and a 36 foot waterline length make her exceptionally seaworthy and provides a very comfortable ride.  Her handcrafted teak interior and old world charm provide for many happy days aboard.

Lady Nelson is absolutely beautiful. The interior is in excellent condition. The joinery is sumptuous of solid Burmese Teak with the satin varnish is maintained to perfection! The teak and holly sole is in excellent condition. The upholstery is sumptuous and traditional. The layout is actually a unique three stateroom layout and even with the garage, she still as two beautiful sleeping cabins, a gorgeous salon with its salon table is extremely inviting. The galley is wonderful, complete and well located. And of course there is a real navigation station. This Lord Nelson is a perfect cruising home that can take you anywhere in the world.

Lady Nelson is ready for her next adventure. Call now for she is enroute to Annapolis, Maryland.

Accommodations:

As you descend the large, stable companionway steps rich, warm teak wood greets you everywhere and you immediately feel at home. The varnish finish is in immaculate condition and is complimented perfectly by the plush upholstery covering the settees and seats throughout the boat. A brass lantern hanging above the dining table gives a classy ambiance that is hard to beat.

The galley is just to port of the companionway steps, and aft of the galley is a quarter berth that has been converted into a very organized mechanical space and storage area. To starboard of the companionway steps is a wonderful cabin with a double berth, a cushy changing bench, lots of storage behind louvered teak doors and a large vanity sink and mirror with marble counter top. This a great amenity, especially for guests.

The navigation station is just forward of the starboard quarter berth cabin and has all the navigation essentials, including chart storage and many drawers and cabinets within reach. There is a very large wet locker separating the quarter berth from the nav station.

The main salon is about as spacious as they come, and as plush. Everything is in excellent condition and the wooden compression post looks as though it were put there by an interior designer; it’s just beautiful. Eight people could easily sit down and enjoy cocktails and dinner in the salon area together. Custom storage for those wine and cocktail glasses can be found in a glass cabinet outboard of the starboard settee. Just below that wine glass cabinet is a wooden counter top that opens to reveal a huge storage area.

Forward of the salon is the innovative head to port. The toilet is cleverly hidden under the wooden bench in the stall shower. The stall bulkhead does not reach all the way to the ceiling so you have more room, and the tile wall in the shower makes you feel like you’re showering at home. There is tons of storage in this head, a very large mirror, a marble counter and plenty of charm.

The forward cabin is just as plush as the salon. The sought after Pullman layout and changing seat make this “bed room” the most cozy spot to hang out and read a book. There is a hanging locker, open shelving outboard, cabinets and drawers below. The cabin will please anyone. This entire boat will very much please anyone with a taste for classy nautical.
