It is generally accepted that the Seidelmann 299 represents a good value in a sailboat, with fine sailing qualities, roomy and good headroom below as well as being modestly priced. They can be sailed solo but are easy to manage with two.

There is plenty of room below to shelve crew gear and consumables for the day\'s sail. By most reports they point very close to the wind. They excel in a light breeze or 20 knot winds. Boat is not heavy and acts it in a blow. Reefing early is a good idea but the main can take a 20 knot breeze, however expect some pitching in choppy waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
