G. Lawley & Son Fast Commuter - Classic Fast Commuter
At the beginning of the XX Century, with the improvement in the reliability of the internal combustion engines, a new class of launches emerged: the Fast Commuters, which served to the transport of the American executives from their summer residences on the River Hudson, to the business centre in Manhattan. George Lawley & Son imposed himself among the successful builders of fast commuters thanks their building quality, speed and comfort. The styling of these fast commuter did not change on a long period, as we can see for example with the Scoter, built by Lawley in 1916 and whose lines are very similar to those of the Unicorn built eighteen years later. The Unicorn has had just three owners in her long life, a thing that together with the sturdy construction from Lawley has preserved her originality in a degree rare nowadays. Her general shape is good, although she needs some work on hull and coach-roof. Her asking price, however is low considering her historic value and reflects this situation. VAT to be paid.
