Sayonara Specs, equipment, maintenance Log

Sayonara is a Cheoy Lee Offshore 33 Ketch (1972), full keel, no damage,Yard Hull # 2548.  She was Canadian Registered (License Number 18E34255, registered at Canada Customs & Excise, 400 Gray\'s Road, Hamilton, ON L8E 3J6, Canada).  (This Registration is now defunct.)

Sling Positions for Liftout: Forward, in line with Main Mast step; Aft: just aft of Genoa track .

Dual Racor Diesel Filters (in engine compartment): both Yellow handles pointing down = Aft Filter in operation; both Yellow handles pointing aft = Forward Filter in operation.

Circumnavigation: up the US East Coast and Erie canal to Lake Ontario, back South as far St Lucia, across the North Atlantic via Bermuda and the Azores, then to the Med and via Spain, France, Italy, Greece to Turkey, back again via Malta, Spain, the Canaries to St Lucia to Trinidad, to the San Blas islands, to Panama, to Galapagos, the Marquesas, Tonga, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Cairns, around the top of Australia to Darwin, to Bali, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, diagonally across the Indian Ocean to La Reunion, to Richards Bay, South Africa, around the Cape of Good Hope (through the fearsome Agulhas current), and diagonally back across the South Atlantic to Trinidad.  The boat is currently lying in St. Martin.

The boat has behaved admirably in all kinds of weather, including a storm of 50 to 55 knots over 2 days off the Moroccan coast, en route to the Canary Islands.  There was 1 knockdown, in the Coral Sea between Vanuatu and Cairns, Australia, in large, very confused seas—32 kts. Trade-winds wave train combining with waves from a Southern storm--she picked herself up instantly and continued on her way without difficulty.  She is, of course, also excellent for gunkholing.  See “Draft” below
