A Shipwright & experienced “Traditional Yachtie friend\" once said to me “ Treat her fondly, with loving care & attention so as to maintain her good looks & she will give you great pleasure.... Because Timber boats have a soul. ” In this age of the “Plastic fantastics” I believe to own or sail a classic timber yacht should be a quest all recreational Sailor’s should accomplish during their time sailing & as a Yacht Broker, specialising in selling quality built yachts I would like to offer another like minded sailor of the same ilk, a chance of a lifetime experience to own this classic ocean going Yacht we have just listed for sale. HISTORY: Officially known as design No: 0-47, a 51’ shoal draft cruising Yawl, custom designed by renown USA Naval Architect Al Mason, for Mr. James Turner & built by William C Bailey of Miami, Florida with a special contract proviso that “All materials in every respect to be of the best quality. \" The yacht originally named “Jamel” was launched in 1958, her hailing Port being St. Petersberg, Florida. The present owners being very experienced Blue Water Cruisers purchased Jamel,(now renamed \"Screemin Eagle\") in California 2010; having completed two previous Pacific, USA to Australia crossings & at that time looking to do a third which they completed in \"Screemin Eagle\" the following year. The Owners have the original drawings of the Boat. (lead photo taken in 1964 of \"Jamel\" during one of her many race campaigns) GENERAL DETAILS: Construction is Strip planked mahogany on oak. All work was carried out by an experienced Boat yard.
