“MERLIN” is an absolutely stunning sistership to the famous Able “WOLF”, but she’s faster, newer, and more beautifully detailed throughout.  Originally launched in 1995 with a fairly modest Herreshoff style interior and smaller engines, her second and current owner bought her in 1997 in lieu of building a new boat.  He took her back to the Able yard (her original builder) for an extensive and total refit in 1998/1999 which included extending the cockpit by 2’, new more powerful engines, all new shafts, struts, bearings and running gear.  Additionally, the old interior was completely removed and a new beautiful raised panel cherry interior installed.  All in all, the total cost for this refit was in excess of $800,000 above her purchase price.  The result was, and still is, the most beautiful Able 44’ ever built.
