DONZI Overview

Donzi was founded in 1964 by boat-racing legend Don Aronow and Partners Walt Wlaters and Jim Wayne-the inventor of the sterndrive power system. (Aronow had started Formula the year before in Miami, and within a year it became so successful that he sold it to Thuderbird). The first Donzi was the sweet 16, a classic high-performance design that became a best-selling classic in her won time. Ownership of Donzi has changed hands several times over the the years since Aronow and his partners sold out in 1967, and by the late 1980\'s the line had expanded to include center-console fishing boats, performance boats, and a entry level Ragazza series of runabouts. In 1989 OMC (Outboard marine Corp) purchased Donzi, but the marriage proved a poor one when OMC dramatically cut back on Donzi\'s production. Finally in 1993 the company was purchased by American Marine Holdings. Donzi is built in Florida and marketed through a national dealer network.
