Grand Prix is 47 foot sloop designed by Laurie Davidson (Laurie was the designer of the race winning NZ Americas Cup yacht and one of the top NZ designers)  and built by Phillip Wilson (one of NZs best boat builders) constructed in Kauri on laminated ring frames with ½ inch tongue and groove and double diagonal Kauri sheathed in fibreglass.
