Dyer Extended Pilothouse (Extensive Rebuild 2003)

New price reduction to $55,000.  Two boat owner - with only one mooring - motivated to sell!!

Heron was custom built by the Anchorage in Warren, Rhode Island in 1982.  She is hull #221.  She is in very good condition and has received proper care by her knowledgeable and meticulous owners. She was extensively rebuilt in 2003 and has been appointed with multiple options that make her a nice example of this classic yacht including her lovely stars and stripes blue topsides, complimentary upholstery through-out, Simpson Lawrence Sprint 400 windlass, newer electronics, new wiring, Dyer Dhow stars and stripes sailing dinghy, custom built Dyer 29 three axle trailer and much more.

She is powered by a Volvo 155 hp diesel - 280 stern drive that was rebuilt in 2003.   This configuration delivers exceptional maneuverability and is quieter and roomier than the standard mid-engine boat since the engine is in the stern.  Recently, the universal joint and turbo charger have been rebuilt and a new bellows and two new hydraulic lines on the drives were installed in the Fall of 2013.  With her 2\' 6\" draft, she can venture into the shallowest of waters giving you endless options of areas to explore and enjoy. She offers great performance with a comfortable 8 knot cruise at 2200 rpms and a top speed of 15 knots at 3200 rpms. She burns a mere 1.5 to 2 gallons per hour at her cruise speed and is extremely efficient.

She has been used as a race committee boat in South Florida, Block Island and Narragansett Bay and for the past three years she has provided the owner and his wife with weeks of enjoyable cruising on Lake Ontario, Georgian Bay and upstate New York.

Spring maintenance complete, she is in the water and ready to go for the season.  Please click on FULL SPECS for detailed information and additional photographs.

We have a slip available in Westerly, RI on the Pawcatuck River for an owner wishing to keep her in this area. Please note that there is no sales tax if purchased and kept in the state of Rhode Island.

Beginning forward there is an anchor rode locker followed by two large, 6\'3\" x 29\" v-berths with new 4\" foam cushions and stars and stripes blue Sunbrella covers.  Large 12\" shelves over berths as well as lockers and large drawers under the berths provide additional storage.  Headroom in this area is 70 inches and improves in the galley due to the extra large companionway.  Ventilation is provided by an overhead hatch with a day/night solar vent and screen as well as two opening ports with screens and two bulkhead mounted 12 volt fans.

To port is the galley with storage in back under the deck and bulk storage in the original ice box under the formica counter.  At the forward end of this counter is a S/S sink with a Whale Flipper pump.  There are four large storage drawers in the front of the counter.  A grid under the drawers at floor level provides heat from the engine in cool weather.  A single burner Origo 1500 alcohol stove stores in one of the drawers when not in use and there is a teak dish/cup storage and paper towel rack on the aft bulkhead.  There is an opening port with screen and a overhead dual voltage light.  Cold storage is provided by an ice box under the companion seat in the cockpit.  There is also a hatch in the sole in this area to access the forward bilge pump and float switch as well as the head intake seacock.

To starboard is the enclosed head with a S/S sink and a Whale Flipper pump.  Under the sink and next to the head are several shelves for storage.  There is an opening port with screen and a dome light with clear and red bulbs.  The Wilcox Head Mate has a varnished teak seat and top and is plumbed for overboard discharge or to a holding tank.  On the aft bulkhead over the head there is a teak hand rail/towel rack and on the forward bulkhead there is a mirror and a 2\" S/S hand rail beneath it.

One step up through the large companionway to the deck house, to port there is a companion seat with the above mentioned ice box and storage lockers.  Forward of the seat on the bulkhead is a teak foot rest and teak binocular box.  On the back of the seat is a custom portable table which mounts on the engine box.  To starboard is the folding helm seat and a folding step  There are hatches port and starboard for the two battery compartments and two additional hatches aft of the seats to provide access to the area on either side of the centerline fuel tank and forward of the mid-ship bulkhead.  On the starboard side under the deck there are varnished teak slats to hold fenders and dock lines and to port under the deck are holders for boat hook, oars and deck brush.  The deck is reached by a two step cockpit ladder which can be moved to either side of the cockpit.  There is a centerline hatch aft of the mid-ship bulkhead for access to the Raor fuel fiilters bilge pump float switch and additional storage.  Behind this area is another bulkhead for the engine compartment and aft bilge pump.
