This was the first Prout 45 Ocean ranger built in 1965 she was owned by Dr Pugh who took part in the first ascent of Everest with Hilary. When she was built she was a ground breaking design superbly sea worthy and fast winning races such as the Crystal Trophy in 1968. She was one of the very first large glass fibre catamarans built and laid the foundations for the Prout range of 45 and 50 catamarans which proved so successful over the following 30 years.

She is now a classic and really needs a new owner as the Pugh family who have been carrying out a major refit want to sell so it needs someone to complete the work and get her back into commission.

This would make very interesting and rewarding project, at the end you will have a fine fast ocean sailing catamaran with a unique history.

Outline Of Restoration Works

• Old deck removed. Any rot found removed and made good.
• New deck laminated in situ and glassed over to seal.
• Rot at forward joins between hulls and bridge deck removed and made good
• New hull hatches fore and aft.
• New ventilators, jib tracks and central mooring cleat.
• New mahogany veneer applied to main cabin roof, hatch and doors.
• Main cabin windows removed and restored.
• Cockpit glassed out and painted. Teak slats fitted to locker tops.
• Rear bulkheads exposed and any rot removed and made good.
• New nets and net fixings fore and aft.
• New net platform around stern drive. Fixings to rear spar re-sleeved.

Other works

• Sillette stern drive factory overhauled and fitted with a new balanced propeller.
