Snug Harbor Yachts Shearwater 38
SURPRISE is a 38’ Downeast-style cruiser custom built for the current owner to a Carroll Lowell design with modifications by the builder, Jeff Grey, of Snug Harbor Yachts. Her hull was cold-molded and consists of two layers of western red cedar over douglas fir tongue and groove planking. She is beautifully finished. Her interior is spacious and open, with mahogany joinery. Decks are wide and uncluttered. Her 13’ beam provides for a roomy cockpit. Power is provided by a Cummins 450 hp turbocharged diesel with only 277 hours. A bow thruster aids in docking. A 6.8 KW Onan generator with only 116 hours provides electricity for on-board systems. SURPRISE’s appearance reflects pride of ownership and careful maintenance. She has had limited use and shows little sign of wear or use. SURPRISE represents an opportunity to own a very desirable lightly used custom yacht at a fraction of her original cost. She was launched this week. SURPRISE has an amazingly open and spacious intior with accommodations to sleep four with owner\'s stateroom forward and an l-shaped settee in the main salon that converts to sleep two. The galley is down. The forward cabin has two 7\' single berths, one port the other starboard, with a chest of drawers fitted between. The mattresses are constructed of three layers and are 5\" thick. There is drawer storage below the berths. A hanging locker is forward behind a sliding panel with stained glass mirror. Overhead is a butterfly hatch. A U-shaped galley is next aft to port, and an enclosed head is opposite to starboard. The head features a shower with Kohler wand and control and a teak grate, teak slatted seat over toilet, vanity, stained glass mirror, and ventilator overhead. The toilet is an electric push-button Raritan Atlantes with macerator and fresh water flush. Step up to main salon. The helm is forward to starboard with a sliding door next to helm for ease in docking. The custom helm seat unit contains chart storage, six drawers, and a drop-front bar with bottle rack. The nav area is opposite to port and features a chart table with book rack. Aft to port is a drop-leaf dinette table that lowers to convert the L-shaped settee to form a double berth. A custom bookcase with locker storage below is opposite to starboard. Upholstery is hunter green Ultrasuede. Engine compartment is below and accessible through four hatches in the teak and holly cabin sole.
