Mariner 39 Center Cockpit

Zora is a handsome, semi-custom and well-found, New England-built center cockpit sloop. In 2004 she underwent an extremely comprehensive rebuild. Safety and build quality were of paramount importance as the boat was to be sailing offshore and off-the-grid for extended periods with a young family aboard. Only the best quality materials and techniques were used. The owners essentially took the boat down to a shell of hull and some interior structure, and rebuilt a new, custom boat on that platform. Since then, the boat has been carefully maintained by a professional marine systems technician. Many more systems upgrades and new equipment have been added in recent years.

Zora\'s owners are experienced and knowledgeable bluewater sailors. One is the head systems technician at a well-known Maine boatyard. The other has been a writer for Cruising World magazine as well as a five-time judge for the Boat of the Year competition at the Annapolis Boat Show. Their 2004 refit, done with the highest quality components and design, improved an already very solid and well-built vessel. (The New Hampshire based Mariner Yacht Company built cruising sailboats from 1977 until 1983. )

A quote from her recent survey: “The upgrades & restorative effort have greatly influenced

Zora’s long-term serviceability as well as her overall current value. The program was carried out to high level of craftsmanship & workmanship. In many respects, the vessel is better suited than when originally built, exhibits much above average for age condition and is in the hands of very knowledgeable owners.” Exceptionally well-maintained, comfortable, and fun to sail, Zora represents an exceptional value.

Please inquire for an extensive list of improvements and upgrades. Thank you

With her separate aft master cabin and forward stateroom, each with it’s own head, dresser, and cedar-lined locker, Zora is well suited for cruising, living aboard, or extended voyaging.

The V-berth, with a cedar closet, teak chest of drawers and lockers, outboard shelves, and Hella fan, has a sliding door for privacy. There is a large opening hatch and two opening ports for ventilation. Just aft is the forward head to port with an opening port and hatch, full standing headroom, large gasketed storage locker and a hot-and-cold pressure water shower. Opposite is the vanity with hot-and-cold pressure water, drawers and cabinets. The two doors allow the area to be configured as a toilet/shower stall, full head, or to create a private suite for the forward stateroom.

Just aft is the main salon, with custom outboard storage, UltraSuede cushions, a centerline drop-leaf table with center storage, stereo, Hella fans, bookshelves and storage cabinets both outboard and behind the seatback cushions. Salon settees have lee cloths for use as sea berths. There are two large opening hatches and four opening ports. Moving aft, the nav station is to starboard of the main companionway, with a custom electrical panel, 110-volt inverter, radio, radar and chart storage, with more storage below the desk and nav seat.

Through the starboard-side passageway (with storage cabinets outboard,) past the dedicated engine room, is the large aft master stateroom, also accessible through its own companionway to the cockpit. The spacious berth has Hella fans and reading lights both fore and aft, allowing you to sleep in your most comfortable orientation. Built-in teak dresser and cedar closet, outboard shelves, custom outboard lockers, and under-berth storage hold lots of clothing and gear. There are three opening ports and an opening Bomar hatch. The large private aft head has hot-and-cold pressure water, an opening port and hatch, and more storage.
