Mcintosh Downeast Lobster Yacht

SANDPIPER was originally built in 1976 by David S. (Bud) McIntosh as a handsome, single diesel, “Downeast” Cruiser to cruise the coast of Maine. In approximately 2009, Paul Rollins, the well-respected boatbuilder in York, Maine, undertook a rebuilding program as noted above, with the idea of taking the vessel to Florida or the Bahamas once completed. Rollins applied the ultimate bottom protection using copper plating to sheath the underwater planking from borers (unheard of these days due to the high cost of copper). The original decks were replaced with fiberglass and epoxy resin over plywood. The deckhouse was about 70% rebuilt also,  and a new single 125 hp Caterpillar diesel was installed. Other numerous upgrades were made to the galley; new electronics installed; new 12V electrical system added, new fuel and holding tanks, and new aft cockpit bimini.
