Mcintosh/Swift Sloop

Designed by the late David S. (Bud) McIntosh and built by Gordon Swift in 1965, this handsome Sloop is the ideal \"pocket\" cruiser for a couple or small family. She is well-built using the finest materials of cedar on oak, copper rivets, heavy duty bronze hardware, and tiller steering via outboard hung rudder. She\'s powered with a 2004 Universal/Kubota 20 hp, 3 cylinder diesel which easily powers her at 5 knots burning 1/2 gallon per hour. With her roller furling headsail, she is easy to handle shorthanded or singlehanded. MADRIGAL is a salty-looking sloop, which exudes warmth and charm below, and is seaworthy and able underway. Her builder and first owner, Gordon Swift, was well-known for his fine craftsmanship and boatbuilding skills, and has been a long-time, renowned teacher at the Wooden Boat School in Brooklin, Maine. He and his wife Doris sailed MADRIGAL along the Maine coast for over 40 years, living on her while he taught his courses. Her present owners have spent the last several years upgrading and improving her and we believe she is now in first class condition. Please call for your inspection of this fine sloop.
